Goodbye, Mr. TownshipGossip!

Well, it looks like he is really gone.

The TownshipGossip had most on-line people in Downe Township...and the surrounding area!...guessing for many, many months.

Not any more. He is gone. Most say they are glad he is no longer printing his drivel and garbage. Me too, actually.

He had a good idea in creating a page with local information. Unfortunately, he allowed it to get out of hand and abusive. Most of the material on his pages was libelous and for the most part not very nice material. People used his forum as a way to get back at their neighbors.

Humans just can't seem to get along.

Good by, Mr. Township Gossip!

Goodbye, Mr. TownshipGossip!

If we can believe the statements made today on his web page we have seen the last of his writings and the writings of those who kept him in business.

Gossip fascinates whether it's from the TownshipGossip, People Magazine, or a sleazy supermarket tabloid. People love to read about what others are doing to each other... providing it doesn't get personal and reach into their bedroom or backyard.

I corresponded with Mr. TownshipGossip two or three times and wrote to him once for inclusion in his weekly web page. I took great amounts of heat and criticism for communicating with him at all from people who were hurt by the stuff he published. I communicated with him for two reasons:

  • To get readers to visit my web pages
  • To ferret out the man behind the pages

Did my efforts work? Maybe. Hundreds of people visited my web pages that probably wouldn't have without his links.

But, none of us know for sure who this mystery man really is.

In one of my emails to him I complimented him for discovering what I've been saying for five or six years and that is this:

One person, one computer and one web site can now reach the entire online world.

Never in the history of civilization has such power been in the hands of an individual.

Think about it: your words can be seen by billions of people world-wide by creating a web site and getting the site listed in a search engine such as Google.com.

You and your words available for the world to see for about $20.00 per month. Such a deal!

Mr. TownshipGossip discovered the power of a website and he entertained hundreds...thousands?...for months.

Will you miss him? Will you miss the garbage and the statements made by neighbors and friends against neighbors and friends?

I will not miss the TownshipGossip although I must admit I was intrigued and captivated by the fuss his words and his contributors words caused among those who read his pages.

You had many people hooked, Mr. TG.

But I, for one, am glad you are folding up your tent and sneaking off into the darkness.

My biggest regret is that I was not able to figure out who you were.

Had I found out...by George, sparks would have flown.

Goodbye!

This web page and links on it relate to issues and circumstances in Downe Township. If you live anywhere except Downe Township the material won't be of much interest. Maybe, even if you live in Downe Township, the material won't be of much interest if you don't like controversy or think gossip is sick and demented.

Personally, I dislike controversy, inter-personal fighting and the general lack of love between humans.

Many people who know me probably will find that statement somewhat surprising because of how often I've found myself in the middle of controversy in Downe Township. Despite what most folks think, I don't seek out controversy; it follows me around like a shadow.

Someone signing emails as Mr. TownshipGossip has created a web page which you can see here. This page and those linked from it pertain to my personal thoughts relating to his effort and his comments.

Mr. TownshipGossip has stumbled upon the power of the Internet. He has harnessed the power of the Internet by realizing that one person, one computer and one website can influence the thinking of hundreds...maybe even millions.

Never in the history of civilization has such power been available to one person.

He has created a website which is being read by hundreds of people in Southern New Jersey. I wrote to him and sent him copy which he published in the first position of his recent gossip column

You wouldn't be reading this if TownshipGossip wasn't familiar to you.

I took lots of heat from a guy whose opinion I greatly respect because I wrote to Mr. TG. He ran up one side of me and downe the other for giving Mr. TG the honor of a letter from me.

I wrote to Mr. TG because he has a large audience in the demographic of people that I want to reach with my message...which is community oriented software systems.

I will be adding material here very soon.

Please stop back or read on...
